Once again, I am lost.

I've just spent the last 2 hours working on my wordpress blog that I have newly created only to find out that to have a music player in the sidebar (something I will definitely need as a composer) that you have to be a PAYING member!?

Since wordpress seems to be stuck in 2001 can anyone recommend a good alternative? The features are I need are not vast.
I need the facilities for a 'donate' paypal button and a music player. Both of these would permanently display on the side.
Past that all I need is the basic functionality of a blog, being able to add photo/videos etc...

What do you guys use?

You can embed music on tumblr.

I'm fairly certain you can put a paypal button on one. Or at the very least a discrete link to your paypal.

That may be the way I have to go.

I would've loved wordpress but apparently not. Blogger was my second choice but since it is owned by google there is no option to sync it to facebook so that's another one out the window...
