one of my dwarves was just alone in his room

mighta been on break, coulda been idle, maybe sleeping

either way, he suffocated ... alone.  in his bedroom.

Are all my chains setting a bad example for these guys?

Immediately execute any dwarves found starting parties around chains or your dwarves will become whipped ass bondage slaves.

Sounds like a sparring accident to me. The other guy accidentally slit his throat open, and he tried to sleep it off. It didn't work.

You can't slit throats in df yet. You either bruise them, causing dwarves to die after a looooong time due suffocation(2-3 days) or you rip them out, causing them to die of bloodloss in seconds. Don't ask me how to manage the latter with a wooden sword tho.

I've had a resting hunter die of suffocation from neck wounds after a month or two of bedrest...

Dwarfs do indeed die of suffocation with lung problems, or they did in .32 ...  Since I lost quite a few to that.

That's when I learned to train the dwarfs in armor and wrestler BEFORE training them in spear.
