It's been known that Steam has become a digital distribution platform for software other than games, for quite a while.

The only steam app I've bought is RPG Maker VX Ace, and I've been enjoying it quite a bit!

My only complaint with steam and apps, is that they shouldn't DRM it up so much.  My access to applications should NOT be dependent on whether my internet connection is working.

Yeah, Steam's been diversifying its offerings to include non-gaming software.

You can always go into offline mode if you properly close Steam. I assume that will still work for applications? Notice that shutting down the computer from Windows without closing Steam explicitly does not count as "properly closing Steam". I agree that they could be quite a bit friendlier that way... I mean, is it stopping piracy at all? I don't even know if people pirate Steam's versions of the games.

I think they fixed that too. The whole "shutting down while Steam is running breaks authentication" thing. I think now it at least USUALLY works.

Best game ever! Anyone know the code to reset your balance back after dropping it to zero?

I think it's something like

There's a penalty for using it too much, though.

I'm not entitled enough to have a problem with this.

They sure are.  Whining because a store is selling something that you're not interested in (which I'm not for the record) is a bit different.  It's on the same level as getting upset because McDonalds added arancini to the menu.  Just shrug bemusedly and buy your deep fried testicles (or whatever the hell is in that 'food') as normal.
