((Wait, you’re telling me you can’t read my mind? All right, I can’t really think of a way to deal with my mistake except to temporarily disrupt continuity. If it’s no matter to the both of you, we completely forget that it was going to take ten hours to load the cargo and just take off now.))

((Little problem of the fact I implied earlier that information travels at the same speed as your ship when in the Krasnikov tube, so that would mean no Internet during the voyage, leaving the two of you in a spinning can for two hours with nothing to do. Skipping over the travel part.))

Turn Bacon: Continuity is for Chumps

You can feel the ship decelerate. The two k-tube transits passed without incident, so you’re here now, for better or worse. INC-5317 is only about three minutes away at your max speed, and it looks like you were expected. The map of the system shows an unregistered vessel in orbit over the planet. It’s about a quarter the size of your freighter, and, unlike the boxy thing you’re riding in, it’s of a sleek design, clearly made for speed and maneuverability.

The computer signals an incoming connection with a dull ringing sound. They obviously know that you are here too. “Audio connection requested by unknown vessel,” says the computer. It’s your choice whether to answer or not.

"Handle this, Jason. I've had my fill of communicatin' with various feckers for today."

Beau massages his temples and keeps muttering in his seat.

Keep an eye on the ship's controls while Jason answers the call.

A rough voice commands you through the speakers. “Enter orbit over INC-5317 and grant docking permissions.”

Control over the airlocks and ship’s stabilizers are needed by docking vessels (ones that intend to leave you intact, anyway), but you’ll need to grant these.

A light blinks on one of the consoles. It’s an incoming connection.

“We’ll do the rest,” the voice finishes.

Your computer patiently waits for your current connection to close. “Waiting audio/video connection from Harald Deeter of Orion Shipping.” Feck. The regional manager. You aren’t even late yet, so he might not know about all this, but you never get a call from him, so what could it be?

Close the connection and answer our manager, grant docking permission and enter orbit

"They will be coming aboard shortly, and you may wanna get over here our boss is calling and that can't be good."

Oh, great. Just great. Why today of all days?

"Aw, feck. That gobshite was all I needed to make this day feckin' perfect."

He straightens out, fixes his posture and hair, then clears his throat.

"Right, presentable now. Let's answer the fecker."

Answer call.

"Yes, Regional Manager, sir? Is there anything you wish from us?"

The ship starts for the nearby planet at its fastest subluminal speed, and docking permissions are granted to the unfamiliar vessel.

A rather portly man in an ill-fitting suit appears on your screens. His bald head and dirty mustache don’t make him any prettier.

“What is your location and status?”

If he knows that you are off course, he isn’t being direct. That isn’t odd, as MIS regulations permit employers to track freighters, but only after giving signed notice to the crew—notice that you were obviously not given. What is odd is that this is a regional manager, as your operations manager would be calling if you had received the proper notice and still dared to deviate from your route.

((I’m moving this out of RTD, as it clearly doesn’t fit, what with most turns so far not having rolls. You no longer need to post your actions in bold.))

"We are en-route to our destination and have no problems to report."

Beau kept his game-face on as well as he could while he said that. Hopefully the fecker won't ask any pointed questions.

Wait, maybe this is a test? Maybe he's just trying to see if he's going to outright lie to him?

Head for the air lock and wait for the unknown man to come on board.

A two-person forum game that claims to be a three-person RTD that is not in RTD subforum. What a great idea. Get a chat or something, guys.
