Before I begin this story, it is only fair to tell you Karlak... Your brother is dead. Now listen to my story and I will tell you how we may still right this wrong.
While you were out exploring, a crisis emerged at home. Anishinaabe hunters began encroaching on our hunting grounds in a manner that seemed almost organized. Naturally the tribes living in the area complained through their representatives in the Assembly, and eventually the Assembly agreed to send an expedition to investigate the matter, headed by your brother.
Upon arriving near the disputed hunting grounds, the expeditionary force was ambushed at night by a band of Cree who attempted to assassinate your brother. They failed, and in the possession of their leader we found a wampum bracelet promising them marriage to the chief's daughter, and thus entry into the Anishinaabe Confederation, if the assassination was successful.

ImageShack.usNaturally such a blatant insult could not stand. Angaangaq immediately began gathering hunters and marching into Anishinaabe territory. He marched in with four thousand hunters, with another thousand headed down to help. However he was outnumbered, fighting off two bands of three thousand Anishinaabe hunters due to his military prowess. This feat impressed many of the local tribes, indeed many of the Cree tribes near the disputed hunting grounds left the Anishinaabe Confederation, and joined our Confederation!
However he was too confident. He started to march on the Ojibwe tribes, the last unsurrendered members of the Confederation, when a massive band of four thousand hunters attacked them from the East. He fought bravely but ultimately he was killed and his party scattered to the wind, most heading south to seek refuge with friendly tribes. However, they are pursued by Anishinaabe hunters, and those now friendly tribes will likely turn unfriendly when the Anishinaabe arrive, leading to a slaughter of many of our tribes best hunters.
Now, I am left with no choice. The gods have told me that I must go south and rally the hunters. However, I know that this is hopeless. What you must do Karlak is talk to the Assembly and try to convince them to make peace with the Anishinaabe. If we make peace we may lose some of our pride, but we will still have gained the northern Cree tribes and thus secured our hunting grounds, just as we wanted. I know the loss of your brother must weigh heavily on your mind but do not allow that to overwelm you! Please Karlak, don't allow the brothers of so many others to die!
