I'm not disagreeing that dwarves don't need daggers, but I think the idea and mechanics of exotic weaponry need to be preserved.

After all, it will make more sense when we get serious cultural differences between civilizations.

Between races rather than civilisations is the implication here, unless there's more weapons on the horizon to divvy up between individual civs.

AFAIK, that's the plan. It'll arrive when Toady divies up the humans and other civs into different cultures and stuff, so that each one has their procedurally generated unique weaponset.

If we're going to end up with procedurally generated weapons, I don't see why Dwarves should have the current exotic weapons as their defaults and the procedurally generated ones as the new "exotic" ones.
