Have "rock compactors" changed in the latest v
« on: November 22, 2007, 10:07:00 am »

I haven't been able to get my rock compactors to work in my latest fortress--the bridges don't raise/lower.  I was very careful about the pressure plate settings and the bridge settings (raise, not retract).  Did something change in the newest version?

Try hooking the bridge up to a lever instead of a pressure plate.

I guess I'll try that, out of curiosity...but I hate to use a manual method where I could have something maintenance-free.  :-D  I suppose I should clarify that my compactors were working as advertised in my previous forts.

Has anyone gotten one working in the new version?

Citizen-triggered pressure plates are bugged in 33b (I think I posted a bug thread about it a few days ago). They don't seem to trigger it - however, pets which meet the size requirements DO trigger them, so you could set your pressure plate up somewhere which pets traverse.
