Fortress in second or third year, recently opened up access to one of the caverns to harvest the tasty, tasty silk contained therein.  GCS crashes the party and kills about 6 of my 90+ dwarves before being caught in a cage, touching off a tantrum spiral that would eventually claim over half the fortress population.

In the midst of the tantruming, babbling, and berserking, it's only natural that you're going to cycle through a few mayors.  Well, the mayor du jour went berserk in his personal dining room/office.  The next dwarf in line just happened to be nearby.  After the new mayor was appointed, he proceeded to stump into his new office, beat the ever-loving snot out of his berserk predecessor, and then return to his work elsewhere.

That or you could change his name to Urist McHaggar.
