Archery in Adventure mode
« on: November 23, 2012, 01:31:29 pm »

Hey everyone,
just want to ask if anyone has had any trouble starting with archery on a adventure mode character, it seems every time I try to make one and start him up, I talk to the guy and get a quest. He sends me to a vampire and once I reach the lair and spark up the encounter, I press F line up the shot and then fire at him, next thing I know a couple of seconds pass, I CANNOT do anything here, I just watch as he aproaches me, gets about seven or eight hits in without my character making any known attempt to block or dodge him and when I regain control, Im nothing more than a useless wreck on the floor. No idea if this is a bug or im doing something wrong, can someone help?

You need a few turns to reload.

I wonder if the game has become odd.

Even grand master crossbowmen take a few seconds to reload. They make better companions than adventurers IMHO.

I think if you were sneaking your reloading time is affected same as your speed. So near doubling an already very long re-load.

Yeah I also had the same problem with my first elf I tried. Reload time is terribad, and whilst it makes sense for x-bows, a skilled longbowman can draw, fire and reload in a 3-5 seconds in real life, so its a bit weird for standard bows. As noted, a Crossbowman is a great companion to have, but players should stick to throwing and melee as it stands right now.

You don't need a crosbow when your hands are missile launchers. Take a bunch of vomit and throw it to your enemies.

Unless you feel it to be too exploity. Crossbows in adventure mode are a challenge; especially more fun when you poison your bolts.
