I have lye. I have tallow. But the option at the soap shop for making soap is red.

What gives?

Check for buckets, also are there lye in barrels?

I have buckets although they may be full of water...

I have lye in barrels.  But they shouldn't be frozen if they are underground, should they?

And if the lye is frozen, how can I tell?

Also make sure the stockpiles that store these owners are either a) not giving to other workshops/stockpiles or b) asign those piles to give to the workshop.

You can tell by k-ing over the barrel and hitting enter to see the inside. But if it's got stockpiled properly, it's not frozen.

Are it in burrow? Include the lye stockpile and tallow/oil you want to make soap with into it, if there are. Smelter have same issue with this.

If all else fails, ask the manager for a soap, some workshops acts oddly. Then see if the job fails and what the manager says.

I had to make jugs. Not sure if this has anything to do with it.

I think theres a command in dfhack to empty buckets which are half filled with lye or water.
