Since this takes place in the 90s--and starts in 1994 specifically (between the Waco siege and the Oklahoma City bombing)...
Why not have the squad as a part of the militia movement? ???

But why would the LCS be part of a right-wing extremist movement?

I assume it was about cod tendies and an austerity-caused crunch in the supply of good boy points.

I offer you an idea for a twist!

Since this takes place in the 90s--and starts in 1994 specifically (between the Waco siege and the Oklahoma City bombing)...
Why not have the squad as a part of the militia movement? ???

It was very radical in the 90s (and more than controversial!), so it's a perfect fit for the game engine, if you want to call it that. LCS is a controversial game, and any game that has you effectively playing as the bad guy is controversial and gets attention. Also, as far as the LCS community is concerned, it will differentiate it enough from LCS and people will play it! It's a win-win situation.

The only problem I can see with a militia movement game is actually defining its goals... to this day, I don't understand the purpose for its existence though several terrorist groups have sprung up around it that carry the ideology a bit too far. If you are seriously interested in following this idea, you should probably pick up one of many books written about the movement, or at least read some newspaper articles about it.

I apologise if any of you are members of this movement, I'm not American so I will probably never understand it. I do not wish to offend any of you and I'm sure you're wonderful people.

Well I have thought of alternate themes for the game as such, A CCS came would be interesting, and it's funny because it's actually more properly current when we have all this OBAMA IS A SOCIALIST NAZI shit going on, and the tea party, and etc. Things are definitely more liberal right now.

The one that I was thinking of would be to turn this into a crips v bloods game, that would be pretty awesome.

But these are things that I definitely won't touch upon to start with, and if I do want to do these things, would be a later on thing. I have coding experience with JAVA up to AP levels, but this isn't JAVA, that was 3 years ago and I'm extremely rusty, and this isn't my game. Radical changes like that aren't something I can just jump into yet. YET. Last time I was modding this game months ago, I had some ideas in terms of code changes to do for certain things, but I don't really remember any of those ideas nor the ways I was coming up code wise with in how to implement them. So I'm starting out small again, and we'll get to where we get. I do want to do a lot with this, because this is pretty much the only thing I can do to relearn programming and so on.

In any case, you should contribute some of your changes back to the Subversion repository like Deon did with his Genesis mod. Especially the syringe stuff. 'Proper weapon concealment' also sounds interesting. I will be following this. Downloading now.

What do you mean, like make my own SVN? Or actually contribute changes to the main SVN? I wasn't aware that Deon did that, and I don't really know of anything that I have done that a majority of people would want yet. I don't really feel right adding my changes to what is basically Jonathan's thang now. All of my changes are of my personal interests so far, and not out of any group interest so far.

Edit: Err, just a Windows package? Could you please provide a source code release so I can compile it on Linux?
Oh yeah, and don't make it RAR please. RAR is a non-free (as in freedom) format and only WinRAR can actually create RARs. I would recommend the 7z format, which offers superior compression (thanks to the LZMA/LZMA2 algorithm, though you can use countless ones), or just plain old Zip which should be fine. The 7-zip application for Windows handles all of them and is extremely reliable and never crashes, even during the most ridiculous of decompressions (think encrypted archives inside compressed archives inside compressed archives...). The vast majority of unarchiving programs now support 7z, including WinZip, The Unarchiver and WinRAR. There is no reason not to use 7z over RAR, seeing as they both require additional software (on Windows) and because 7z is superior.

I made the old version on windows yes, and I don't know if I even have the source anymore, Nor do I really want to show it because, it's the old version of LCS, not the new version, and the amount of fixes and differences is pretty big. But if you REALLY REALLY REALLY want it, I guess I could upload it. But to me that's like trying to showcase some really shitty, artists' old sketch.

You do realize too, that 7z can extract RARs? I use and switch between 7zip and winrar all the time, again this is really old and that was back when I used winrar. I currently use 7zip.

Either way I do all of my programming on Linux now, so I'm sure that will all be more accessible for likewise for the new version.

Yeah the 80s go pretty far back, that's why I think we should move on.

What would you suggest for opening the RAR file? I can't figure it put for the life of me.

If only I wasn't a retard I could figure out what you mean.
Someone else on another site suggested 7-zip.org, do I just download that and then pick programs from one I already have?

Winzip, which comes with your computer, only opens Zip archives. WinRAR and 7zip are programs you can download that are similar to Winzip, but will let you open additional archive types, like RAR files. Both programs are free to download, and they'll get the job done equally well.

Im not really sure why you would want to DL this as it currently stands anyways, it's a much older version of LCS now, but downloading 7zip would be able to unzip .rar and .7z archives.
