Suspected vampire won't move to her burrow
« on: November 08, 2012, 01:23:01 pm »

I have a 'Animal Trainer' with about 20 skills, 30 previous fortress memberships, and a huge family.  Her name in DF is different from that in DT, so I am very suspicious.  I named her fortress accountant and turned off all other jobs and all she did was stand around outside.  I then made a burrow out of her rooms and assigned her to it.  Still no movement.  She can't possible know about the reactor chamber in her anteroom since she has not set foot in it yet and could not have seen the bridge being built.  How do I get her to come in from the rain and take up her tasks?

Put her in the military and station her in her room. Then close the room up and un-militarize her. That should work.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

My found vampire just stood around with his "haul item to stockpile" job active instead of going to the burrow until I told him "fine, just finish the haul job and then I will burrow you" by removing him from the burrow. Before I could get him back into the burrow he bit a sleeping dwarf to death. He was seen and accused, so he was found guilty, and then happily trotted to the burrow where he was happy his sentence was reduced.

Do vamps trying to feed ignore burrows ?

They should, thristy and hungry dwarves in general does.

Though I've not heard much about anyone burrowing vampires in a few versions, I'm not sure if it still holds.

Dwarves don't give two shits about burrows unless it's a civilian alert burrow, or they're working.  It doesn't matter whether they're a vampire or not.  A burrow just restricts where a dwarf can take jobs and possibly materials for those jobs, it doesn't force a dwarf to loiter there otherwise.
