OK, so I get the first step (masterwork -> encrusting).  Just create a custom stockpile that only accepts masterworks that gives to the jeweler.

But then how do you create a custom stockpile that only accepts encrusted items, in order to give to, say, the craftsdwarf to put some horns on it (or just to keep your extra valuable stuff separate?

I've never thought about this issue before, but could you just have the same stockpile of masterwork goods that feeds the jeweler give to a workshop that's used for decorating? Does it matter what order it's done in? If not, eventually everything that made it into the masterwork stockpile will get both encrusted or decorated, unless it gets put in another stockpile at some point, yes?

That's a good point.... I guess there's no danger of double-encrusting

I am pretty sure I had stuff double encrusted.

I havent successfully done it because what seemed to happen was the jeweler would grab something stupid and encrust it until he ran out of whatever gem, never bothering to drag it to the output stockpile because I didn't specify one.

However, my next plan is to use masterwork input to Jeweler, output to catch all pile that inputs to craft dwarf and woodwork shops, which output to depot pile.

There're no stockpile to specify decoration, unfortunately, and I believe the material setting only affects the base material ( I've had decorated stuffs in stockpile with only specific material for base object ).

If you're not encrusting something with multiple materials, then you can just have the jeweler shop take from stockpile set to only accept masterwork ( at least core quality ). I'm not sure if take from shop works properly like give to shop will do.

Only qualifier for decoration is that thing can't be encrusted/studded with what's already on it, or the base material. Exception's leather image on leather thing or cloth image on cloth thing, but you can only have one cloth OR leather image on cloth/leather thing.
