Flying on the top of Funigwood
« on: November 10, 2012, 12:57:48 pm »

My adventurer stuck on the top of Funigwood. ;_;

I can't do anything. I can't move (even with alt + a), I can't sleep or wait. Did you have any idea what can I do other than "Give in to Starvation" or pressing dot and wait for giant cave spider?
And sorry for bad english.

I believe there're something in DFHack that could help with that, I've seen someone else use it to get off a tree. However, I'm not familiar with it so I can't help there other than checking out the mod board where a thread for it is.

How did this happen?
So, I stood on the scarp next to Funigwood (you can see it in upper right corner) and I thought: "what would happen if I would jump in the tree below". And I did it...

I looked for the thread I remembered someone else having it happen.

What's with fungiwoods? Are they magnet for adventurers now? :D

From the previous thread of a similar nature:
Trying to understand how he had not considered the option of simply flying out of the fungiwood's wicked cap, Gorhax gently ascends.

So yeah, he used DF hack to enable himself to fly off of it.

Nah, it was raw thing, added [FLIGHT] to the raw for the specie, then moved down and deleted it when done.
Someone else was the one suggesting DFHack and was me mis-remembering it being used, instead of raw edit.

hehehe, I'd imagine such halucinations would be immensely fun, ignoring your inevitable fate at the hands of a troglodyte.

Anyway, Spi, my directions in that thread should still work. I'll post them again with a lower typo concentration, though:

"Alright, first back up your last save on this world. Then, save and close the game and go into the save's raws ([DF directory]/data/save/[region with your game saved to it (not your backup copy!)]/raw/objects.)
Find creature_standard.txt in that folder, open it, and find the race you're playing as (it should read [CREATURE:x], where x is the race's ID (DWARF, HUMAN, ELF, GOBLIN, etc...) just hit ctrl-f and type in "dwarf]" or "human]" or w/e to find it.) and insert [FLIER] somewhere after/below that ID tag, save and close the file. Then load your save again. Try and use shift+, and . keys, like in fortress mode, to fly up and down z-levels."

After that, you can just go back into the raws and remove the [FLIER] tag from your race.

If you do have DFhack, you could also try placing an obsidian floor under you, too, to see if that also works.

Hit alt+direction key like you would with water or a ledge and you should jump right off after approving the decision (the game doesn't want you jumping off cliffs by accident [unless you dodge, then it does])

That doesn't work, because he's not standing on a floor. Since humans can't move while in midair, and since being on a tree counts as flying, you can't just drop off, even with alt moving. Adding [FLIGHT] is what I did too, when I got stuck, and it only takes a restart.

The tag's [FLIER] not [FLIGHT] by the way.
