We already have a thread for idea guys who have never produced a game and think that an MMO would be a good first project.

Free money for anyone with a cool enough sounding pitch.  It's the perfect crime.  Now I'm starting to wonder if there's any kind of contractual obligation here.  What happens if somebody gets the money and just plain doesn't deliver at all?

I'm not a lawyer but...

I believe making a fake kickstarter just to get free money is technically a crime, however if you never really intended to make anything but put minimal effort forth writing a bit of (psuedo)code  and maybe spend at least some of the money hiring an artist or something to make some concept art or pixels or whatever it would be damn hard to prove you were actually scamming and not just really bad at managing a project (which is not a crime).

Meanwhile neither kickstarter nor amazon will have anything to do with it, period, so any legal action is up to each individual - considering the overwhelming majority of donations are like $20 or whatever it's not something most people will ever bother with. Even the bigger donations for like $1000 or whatever are probably not worth going to court over (especially if you are the sort of person who can drop $1000 on a video game).

So basically, you're right - it's incredibly easy to scam on kickstarter and there's incredibly little risk for the scammer which is why I will never use it (the other half being if they want me to invest they better pay me a return on that investment, not just expensive signed t-shirts or whatever).

And after this screenshot I realized that this is not an apocalyptic survival or anything and just yet another shitty MMORTS. If it's not a fake, even, which I tend to believe after they promise the game is 80% done but don't give a single gameplay video, a screenshot or even a 3d model. What do we get instead? Photos of developers.

I call fowl on some of their award tier levels. Pretty sure Kickstarter recently had policy changing stopping these projects offering multiple copies of the product as a reward.

I had a friend in highschool who talked about having to feed the chickens and stuff.  Her family had a small roosting house of laying hens (no rooster) that they kept for eggs.  She even had "her own chicken" which she admitted was fairly ugly, as far as chickens were concerned.
