I saw a hydra on that list. Forget dragons, get the hydra!
probably easier and just as funny if not funnier, especially with the adventurer hydra community game going on.
Might have a go actually, my current fort is a bit... boring.
As i think you can make the hydra move by setting it in a pen/pasture somewhere else. Animals generally move there on their own volition. Keep him inside behind a locked door, right next to my entrance wait for goblins to arrive. Unlock door to unleash hydra at melee range.
Sod it, i'll do it
Might give some others some ideas of how to catch dragons/megabeasts in general when embarked with one. Hopefully without dying lol.
edit: completed with no casualties whatsoever. Seems Mr Hydra likes sitting in his cave until someone wanders next to him trying to place a cage trap in his face. Couldn't even chase down my mechanic who isn't even agile
Me being cautious:
I then notice he doesn't care much:
I then try and place a trap where the yellow x is, hydra chases my mechanic (hence the suspended cage trap) and runs into the other cage trap:
Because i embarked on his lair, it's considered that he is the resident and i'm just some rampaging lunatics i think:
Sadly this won't work precisely like this for dragons. If i was going to catch a dragon i'd probably use magma safe material, i don't think it will help much, but it might. I.e obsidian mechanisms with nickel cages. Place one at the exit of the cave, the next a little further in if there's room. Then use a miner to dig pretty close to the dragon, if that doesn't make him move, place traps where you've dug, and then dig the last one and see if you get a chase. The more bends the less likely the fire will follow? possibly?
So for embarking, bring along ~4 nickel cages and 4 pieces of obsidian.
