Aloha,

I have a stockpile with a few bins of coke, and am attempting to smelt lignite into more coke. For some reason, every item in the smelter list is red. I don't have the stockpile linked to a specific area or anything. None of the bins or coke are forbidden.

To fix this I've tried:
Deleting the stockpile and re-designating it
Removing the smelters and re-placing them

Anyone have any ideas?

You need power to make power. Catch-22. Fortunately, You can make charcoal at a wood-furnace, and use that to jump-start it.

Try doing it through the job manager ([j]->[m]->[q]) and see if that fixes the problem.

He already has coke.

Fixed it,

Had something to do with my burrow which didn't include the coke (doh). Even though no one was assigned to the burrow, for some reason they still wouldn't get the coke (but they would get other items just fine... weird)

Furnaces are one of those things that decide not to work at random times of the day. It's probably because of the lunar cycle being thrown off course or the Mayan calendar exploding or something like that.
