Well then, I guess we'll recon the area. We'll want to make an estimate of how many guys there are, what their armed with, make a map of the compound and an estimate of how many mutant bug things they have. Then we can radio command with this info, and request further instructions.
So, the twins (being a sniper pair) should both have binoculars, (or something with zoom anyway) so they can do most of that from up here. We might want to do a recon patrol around the perimeter too, although I'm hesitant on that one.
Ashley's sniper scope can have its zoom changed to various different ranges, as far as 2,000 yards (as far as a .30-06 bolt-action can shoot accurately), and Megan's spotter scope can view as far as 2,500 yards. So, they should have almost no trouble getting info.
You have Ashley and Megan set up a position on the edge of the canyon your team is currently camped out at. Megan says that she sees a huge number of enemy squads. Ashley quickly counts out and estimates about 90 squads of soldiers; mixes of the Russian Spetsnaz and Afghan Militia, at 10 troops per squad, as she observes. "There are about a hundred lab-coated workers, most likely the scientists," Megan then says. "What are they armed with?" the Captain asks Ashley. "Hard to tell. The Militia are carrying mostly the same weapons as that one squad did during the ambush. The professional soldiers are carrying better weapons; AK-74s, PKPs, looks like PP-19s, but these have fixed stocks..." "PP-90M1s," you quickly correct her. "What's the difference?" She equally-as-quickly asks back. "PP-90s have fixed stocks, and use the same 9mm ammo as your SMGs. The PP-19 uses--" "Oh, never mind..." Ashley replies, obviously annoyed.
You quickly scan the canyon yourself; you see 15 large cages with giant insect limbs clawing at the soldiers and scientists studying and guarding them. "The mutant cages..." you mutter to yourself. Ashley, with you apparently finally getting on her last nerve, angrily yells out, "Would you quit mumbling to yourself, already?!" You quickly look back at Ashley, saying nothing for a few seconds. Later, you hear shouting in Russian, followed by a few gunshots. Quickly afterwards, a couple of very loud explosions ring out, and there are two blasts on the cliffside, just below your position. "It's the cannons! We need to get out of here, NOW!!!" the Captain quickly yells at the team, forgetting all of his own orders to keep quiet. You all quickly resume your spots on the truck just as 4 enemy jeeps pull out of the canyon ramp. They start shooting at your truck with mounted PKM machine-guns. Their guns are 7.62mm, while the machine-gun on the truck fires the extremely powerful .50 BMG round (12.7x99mm NATO). However, the gun on your truck can only be swiveled in a 140-degree arc to the front of the truck, and the 5.56mm round in Steve's gun is inadequate firepower against a jeep.
What will the squad do? Flee front-first and risk getting killed, or drive backwards and rain hell upon the jeeps?
