So I generate a new world, hoping for a Necro Tower to assault and to become a necromancer for the first time.  I get my wish and waltz in to the tower, smashing my way to the top and defeating all the necromancers and zombie hordes without a scratch (my companions, however, were not so lucky).  After learning the secrets of life and death and raising a few zombies, I find that I cannot descend any floors.  The staircase to my right leads up, and I can traverse up and down that one with no problem, but I just can't go down the staircase that leads out of the tower.  The only odd thing that I've noticed is that it appears to have not only a floor hatch but also a hatch cover.

Any help?

there's probably a zombie satnding down there, and two creatures can't stand in the same tile. sit down and crawl out

I had to ascend that way.  It took me a while to realize it, but I realized it was a bad decision after going up there and fighting 20 zombies and 2 necromancers by myself.

You can lure out the zombies, lead them away and come back without them or sometimes its actually possible to sneak in and read the book before you are discovered. Remember zombies arent that smart.

yea a legendary sneaker can walk right beside a zombie hit it in the groin then sit down drink a few magma punches and still not be seen

If you ask me most zombie elves are uber observers, so I don't know how you guys managed to do it but I never could sneak past those treebiters.
