should i be worried about my dwarven civilization?
« on: October 17, 2012, 12:07:11 pm »

well one of my dwarves got possessed and made a Malachite armor stand, out of curiosity i wondered what the drunk put on it, and it had an intresting carving on it of and ogress, more specifically Egdoth Fencedsteely the wicked ogress mate, getting ascended to the position of king of the conquered boots (my dwarfs civ) in the year 40. i was wondering meaning thing after reading this but mainly would i be seeing any problem from this? If his royal heinous ever decides to show up at my lovely hell hole, is their any sort of !!FUN!! i should expect?

I'm playing using masterwork if that effects anything.

Dwarves have no problem with human diplomats obviously being demons. So I doubt they'd have any problem with anything on their side.

Also, if I understand correctly, a monster's mate isn't always necessarily a monster itself. Some of them like to get it on with puny mortals, apparently. Could be your king's really just a dwarf.

I'd be a lot more worried that your civ is called The Conquered Boots. They've already acknowledged defeat.

Unique demons never take over mountain halls.

The Dwarves let the diplo-demons live because it results in a net-gain of suffering amongst the human and goblin civilizations.

Nopes. They ARE listed as fellow monsters, and you get quests to kill them. Otherwise, wouldn't they have left?

Besides, World-gen shows most recent title, so not necessarily.

Yeah don't worry about it. When a historical figure is kidnapped and turned in to a hideous monster-mate then all references to the figure a retroactively changed to that status, your poor king wasn't a night creature mate when he ascended to the throne. It's a bit of a buggy, confusing and not quite accurate but it's a trade off to keep the data files manageable in size during world gen.

I just realized two things. 1. For the Win and F___ the World have the same initials. 2. They have the same meaning in Dwarf Fortress.

Unfortunately he would have been replaced when he got turned, toady fixed the bug where they would try and return to their normal lives after getting grabbed long ago.  :(

That was my thought too. These boots are made for walkin'...  :P

I also just had a human diplomat enter from the surface, hold a meeting, then exit the map via hell.... I guess he thinks he's pretty hardass.

Yours might be, but the civ's boots are made for begging for mercy.

Or your civilization is run by a Cat swordlord.
