They seem to come in endless swarms and will almost always try to path into the fort and to the surface to leave the map if they arrive on the first cavern layer, disrupting work and annoying patrols. However, in large numbers they can overpower and kill poorly (as in lacking any) armored soldiers by endless biting and shaking, which will continually tear skin and fat and thus end ina bleed out death. For instance, before I got armor, my champion lost her ear fighting crundles.

Legend tells of a fort besieged by a dragon. When 79 brave recruits fell to its breath, the last dwarf of the fort took up arms. He sprung from his sickbed and claimed an adamant one sword before he bulrushes the dragon. A clean swipe severs the head. But the dragon claws him in the lower body and burns him alive. As he melts into a pile of booze and fat, I rename him Ronnie James Dio and change his profession to dragonslayer. He will forever be immortalized and worshipped as a dragonslayer God.

Its not that there bad, Crundle is just a slang term for
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Hence why you don't google it. But, almost every google image result for Crundle is DF related...
Coincidentally, Crundles were once considered "cave chicken" due to its birthrate.

Am I really the only one who hates goblins?
Logged
You all do know that we everytime we gen a world in DF, a new universe is created somewhere, and everytime we delete a save we kill a whole world?
Aye, we are Armok, god of blood, evil, villager gutting, fortress building, legend making and elf thongs.

I hate goblins with ranged weapons. But otherwise unless modded, they're an omnipresent pest.

I always imagined a little red ball of skin with arms, legs, horns and teeth.

Children you rescue shouldn't behave like rabid beasts.  I guess your regular companions shouldn't act like rabid beasts either.
I think that's a little more impossible than I'm likely to have time for.
