Finding werebeasts
« on: October 15, 2012, 11:33:12 am »

When 0.34.xx first arrived, I remember werebeasts being about as common as cats in Adventurer mode, to the point where I usually had a choice between about 20 different varieties of WB when looking to make a werebeast adventurer.

Now it seems in legends viewer that the number of surviving werebeasts in an average world can be counted on two hands, which is a real bummer when trying to do science on them.

Right now I'm trying to figure which WBs are the deadliest so I can make an army of supersoldier weredorfs.

I want to tell you they were bad men, cephalo.  I want to tell you that with a better overseer the Fortress never would've gotten so bad someone would get offed in a pointless fisticuffs.
But the sad truth charlie?
It was inevitable.

As far as i know, the minimum size for any werebeast is 80000. Allegedly, the biggest should be the weremammoth with its size of 9000000, the most powerful is up to debate.

You can look up the raws of any werebeast curse existing in your world by checking with notepad++ your world.dat/sav on your data/save/region folder (uncompressed saves only).

Doing it the old fashioned way is more fun though...

If I were to look in those raws, would I be able to figure out which curse corresponds to which creature? Legends viewer just lists it a [WEREBEAST_CURSE X], X being a positive integer.

I think so, it lists the number of the curse, the corresponding creature, and the full procedurally generated raws.
This is an example, the first werebeast curse in a world i just generated:
