Do you have OpenAL library installed? libopenal1 is the package you are looking for I think. I am on Ubuntu 11.10 myself so I cannot check it at this time. But I expect it, or an equivalent package, exists for 12.04 as well.

Common problem, with an easy fix:
Code: [Select]
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libopenal.so{.1,}
Or, if you prefer to leave the lib directories alone, or don't have sudo access (Ubuntu workstation at work perhaps? Stop slacking!):
Code: [Select]
ln -s /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libopenal.so.1 /path/to/df_linux/libs/libopenal.so

Useful.  Might make for a less aggressive fortress than dorfing to Anthrax, Mastodon and Lordi.

Thanks that worked.

aye, it works.
Alternatively, "ln -s /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libopenal.so.1 df_linux/libs/libopenal.so" from a script above df_linux, along with other auto-adjustments for a new version (renewing symlinks for saves, diff/path'ing graphics, ini).   ;)

In *buntu plain libopenal1 gives x86_64 library, which doesn't help here. A separate package libopenal1:i386 has the 32-bit variant at the path linked above, which is what's really required.
