Game Type Idea: Asylum?

I was flipping through the Supernatural talk thread, and I saw something that RedWarrior had said in reference to SKs that was really funny:
A bunch of SKs and a single Psychiatrist.

I started to think about it, and, this could maaaaybe be sort of playable if it was balanced right. The flavor would be based on a riot in an insane asylum where the prisoners had freed themselves. The psychiatrists come into play in that they were smart enough to change into robes and join the general population. The town would be, ironically, the potentially murderous patients who need the door code to escape (the door code is assembled in parts from each psych or something, just roll with me here).

Obviously, this would be very role heavy and possibly very kill heavy. I'd ideally want to make a way for the kills to move around, either with kills being dependent on a fixed number of weapons moving around with certain roles being able to take them, or a few strong killing roles who were susceptible to role blocks and consumable kill blocks.

The Psychiatrists wouldn't kill their victims, but rather convert them, through either psychoanalysis of medication. This conversion would remove murderous tendencies (i.e. the ability to kill without a weapon), and any purely negative role traits (incoherent babbling, requiring the mention of four different mollusks in a post), but would cause them to flip as a converted patient. The only killing roles would be pro-town. This is the part where it kind of gets weird, and I still think the psychiatrists should have a way to "kill", even if it's through lobotomization or something.

The other concept I'd like to put into play would be the straight jacket. This would protect against unarmed attackers (i.e. beatings) and medication based conversion, but not psychoanalysis and weapon based attacks (these are performed with shivs). The problems with this to the user are obvious, and they wouldn't be able to act for the night.

I'm torn between the movement of kills or set killers. I'll write up a few role proposals based on the moving kill idea and the set kill idea in the reserved post below.

Sans the straightjacket idea, this is an interesting and novel setup. Having every non-scum player be a Serial Killer would be very interesting.

I don't much like the idea of nightkills moving about, and adding non-psychiatrist roleblockers lessens the conceptual purity and the novelty of the setup. You still need to have some mechanism to prevent everyone from killing each other to oblivion by N1, though - if you change the kill to have a 50% success rate, that may work.


On another note, I've never seen you mod a game before, and from what I've heard of your activity levels, they don't sound very promising, either. Try running a BM or something before doing this one.
