I use DwarfTherapist.  As part of how I do dwarf management, every dwarf gets a nickname.  As of 34.11 vampires nicknamed in DT still show up with no nickname in DF.  So I see them by accident.

Set groups (go down the list) to have burrows without any drink, and whenever any of them get thirsty, unassign them from the burrow. The remaining dwarf will be the vampire.
