The attacks were misunderstandings, and we at least tried to be peaceful before we got tied up... though the cat thing may have been a bit overboard. We didn't know what went down anyway. Still see if you can communicate and make friends with one of the guards- possibly tell tales of your adventures as a trader.

You start to plead, but the guards over the pit either don't understand you or are used to prisoners pleading. Finally someone crawls over to you and says, "If you earn enough karma, you might get out, and even if not you'll go to a better place. Now shut up and stop wasting your karma."

This sounds like an OK plan. The next day, they apparently decided that they learned all they needed to from you, so you got put in a normal work crew to haul stone out of the ground, where other prisoners had dug it (including Dodok and several other dwarves), to be turned into stuff by various other prisoners turned it into stuff. While pushing the minecart to the stockpile, you are interrupted by Eeaki. He is followed by a pair of disgruntled-looking elves, who watch as Eeaki jumps up and embraces you with ash-covered hands and grimy arms, knocking you over. They inform you that Eeaki was resisting all attempts to break, civilize, or dispose of him, in part due to his magic, so they decided to follow him and see where he went. He went to you and shows no intentions of leaving, unless pried off, so they're going to stop trying. Lucky you.

Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on, brah. You keep on living and working. It's not an enjoyable existence, but you accumulate good karma as well as contraband. You have gotten your goblet from the dwarven fortress retrieved, a personal cell (one of a few dozen in a big, hollow, dead tree...but at least it's personal!), and a stolen chunk of rock stuck onto a stick, useable as a basic knife. You've pleaded your case, but the elves don't seem to care. Trespassing, resisting arrest, unauthorized transfiguration, assault of an elven official...the crimes were numerous and, technically, true. You have started to worry about release, and hope for a chance to escape.
One evening, you hear a whisper from a fellow prisoner working in the mines--a goblin, but a fellow prisoner nonetheless. "Jailbreak at dusk. Bring your best weapons." You feel slightly conflicted. On one hand, if you told the elves about this, you'd net a bunch of karma, and trying to aid in a jailbreak would have a fair risk of, say, dying. On the other hand, if you escaped now...with Dodok and potentially others...Well, what will you do once the shift is over?

See if you can contact Dodok and the others, if possible, break out. If not, wait until the last minute then report it. Sucks to do it, but if something goes wrong...

You manage to warn Dodok about the impending breakout, but can't think of anyone else you know who willingly goes more than five feet from you. As night approaches, you run before you can be put into your cell, but get caught and dragged back...nicely distracting many of the guards with your growing woodcraft and Eekai's magic. Well, then, it seems that there's a rather large crowd of assorted races--mostly humans and goblins, but also a good number of dwarves, a few trolls, and a kobold who Eeaki is chatting happily with in the odd utterances that kobolds speak in. As with many things, the breakout swiftly devolves into chaos. Soon, five main factions form.
One faction is lead by the trolls and primarily consists of goblins. They think that the biggest troll, Orok, should lead and that the whole group should take revenge on the elves. They call themselves the Eyes, from that old saying 'An eye for an eye.'
The second faction is composed of most the remaining goblins and several dwarves. The goblins include the mastermind behind the escape, Xartacs. They call themselves the  Settlers and their goal is to make a new city with the other prisoners.

Pledge allegiance with no group in particular but try to stay close with the Settlers. You wish no escapee harm, you don't want anyone to fight until everyone's out, but you aren't going to moderate it. Get out, stick with the Settlers, don't get involved with direct conflict unless you have to do it to escape.

Continued in a new post for technical reasons. Specifically, my tablet was acting up.
You may change your mind on reading the rest...

-----

The third faction, the Homesick, is composed of goblins, humans, and dwarves in roughly the same proportions as in the whole group. They just want to leave the forest and get back to their lives.
A fourth group, the Crusaders, is an odd mix of goblins and dwarves, lead by a former dwarven hunter and goblin troll-shearer. Their leadership also includes a human mage, the only non-Eye troll, and a dwarven lass. The Crusaders agree with the Eyes on getting revenge on the elves, but disagree on everything else.
After a couple hours of these four groups arguing, the fifth group--composed of a majority of the dwarves, almost as many humans, a few goblins, and the kobolds--selected Dodok as their representative.
"Shappdup, all of you idjits, and let me say our part! Thank ye kindly. Now then, I just got to the camp a few weeks back, if that long. But before that I was a prisoner of kobolds, who are not nearly as elves are to their prisoners. Hey, you spend a couple weeks in some filthy hole, tossed burnt rats and miniature table scraps, wallowing in your filth, before being one distraction and eaten priest from being dragon chow, then we'll talk. Anyways, as far as I can tell these kobolds will probably be all disorganized by now; their high priest ran out on them. If we take their cave over, we'll have an army of kobolds and a novrin' DRAGON to protect us. And we have the best possible leader for this plan..."
You have an odd feeling of foreboding and excitement.
"The high priest of the kobolds--" Eeaki jumps up and pulls down the hood that concealed your ears--"The reverend kitsune Dan!"

There is an uproar. What do you do?

Think When did this happen?

before raising your hand and accepting the role.
"To everyone here, we wish you no harm. Should an elf get in our way the elf will be struck down. We wish every escapee luck and may you prosper under your own flags. As for our group, I think it's time we get going. Freedom awaits for us all!"

Technical crap ate my post, so heere's a recap: Lots of Homesick left, the crusaders' leaders are leading a bunch of Crusaders and Eyes against your faction, the Flames, some of the Settlers joined wit you, the Flames have a plurality, you've joined a commitee to decide how to govern your group, we've wandered off topic.
