Problem with constructed stairs
« on: September 04, 2012, 09:20:43 am »

Hello,

I can't get a multilevel stair working for my tower.
At z+0 I constructed an upward stair, in z+1 an up/down stair. Now I have access to the second level, can build walls and so on. But in z+2 I cant build the next up/down stair (No access to build material). The k-command shows open space at the tile where in z+1 the up/down stair is. What I'm doing wrong?

Thx

You're trying to build the up/down stair at the top of the lower level up/down stair, right?

In that case you should be able to do it. I do it all the time. (assuming there is no floor on top on lower level stairs, but it shouldn't be there)

Have your dwarves actually finished building the up/down stair on z+1? If it's designated but not finished then that would prevent you from building any higher until it was done.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!
