Construction Removal speed
« on: August 22, 2012, 08:43:57 pm »

Does anybody know what factors affect the speed at which a construction is removed?  I positioned a large wall improperly, and am surprised by just how long it's taking to get rid of it.  For some reason it takes longer to tear down a wall than it does to build it in the first place.  Dwarven engineering, eh?

Is there a particular skill or job set dedicated to removing constructions?  I haven't found any labor for it, and children seem to do it as well as a proficient mason.

Foolprooof way to penetrate aquifers of unlimited depth.  (Make sure to import at least 10 stones for mechanisms)
Toughen Dwarves by dropping stuff on them.  (Nothing too heavy though, and make sure to wear armor.)

Yep, it takes longer. I guess because there's no skill associated with it. But it seems to vary according to something - i guess attributes.

I recall testing this back in 40d, and I believe that it was based entirely on the Agility of the dwarf doing the deconstruction.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Deconstruction speed should be based on artistic skill.
