Dwarven Law
« on: August 22, 2012, 08:11:31 pm »

So, to the best of my knowledge; I've rooted out the vampire (or at least one of them) skulking my halls.
There's been three murders in Angerballs, all of them drained of blood. I've convicted the trapper Libash Tiristakath three times. For every bloodless victim, I've convicted him of these heinous murders. My sheriff (now captain of the guard) lives in luxury, so many stone statues were crafted to make her pleased of her abode. Why has nothing been done of these murders? Even if I'm wrong, why has she not taken in the man of my suspicions? I have a jail set up. (To my knowledge, at least. I have restraints that have been set to be used for justice.) Every time I check the status in the Justice screen, it says "No sentance pending"

Also, Just out of curiosity; Of the two fortresses I've made since playing the newest version; both of them seem to get a vampire at some point. Is this a fairly common occurence now?

I don't usually bother with the justice system, since it usually results in more deaths than the murderer caused.

As for vampires; they're very common now. If your fort is a few years old, you've probably got a vampire.

Then it happened. Then I cringed. Then I picked it up and beat him to death with it, and then his buddies, too.
You beat a man to death with his dick?

Given that this is Dwarf Fortress, that sounds like a pretty good reason to use it to me.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

IIRC the sheriff/captain of the guard is responsible for light beatings and imprisonments. If you want to deal with vampire killings and murder punishments, then you need a hammerer.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!
