So, I researched the clip for the sonic blasta rifle, missed a terror mission due to distance, shot down an alien sub and cleared it, built a new base called White Shark, and then had the terror mission that destroyed every hope I ever had of winning.
I had no idea what I was getting into.
I was pretty confident it would be easy. I had my new rifles, and armor to protect my troops.
Seems easy enough. I got a little worried about the implied close quarters combat, but I figured I'd pull through.
I spread out my forces and discover this thing. Some kind of lobster man. I learn very quickly it's very tough, and I can't down it in the first turn.
Rather unexpectedly something shoots from the barrels. I still can't see it, and unwilling to risk any more lives, I do the only thing I can do.
I load phosphorous into my heavy cannon and burn everything in the area.
Many shots and explosions later Coral finally kills it. Then things start to fall apart.
These things show up. My first impression was a Cyberdisc 2.0, but it is far, far worse.
Many shots later it explodes, confirming my theory it's related to the cyberdisc.
More aliens show up, and I start to feel I'm the one being hunted.
A few Aquanauts get picked off.
After clearing the local enemies I begin forming a task force to breach the inside of the ship, while a secondary force cleared the upper decks.
It went fine for a while.
Then I started to panic. Close quarters cyberdisc? Even if you kill it...you're still dead. I don't even know how it got there. I cleared that room before.
Then, random fires! I began to suspect the cyberdisc may teleport, which would make it a nightmare to deal with in this terrain.
*Poof*
I retreat out of that nightmare and sync up with Beta Task Force, who has been pushed off the roof. The combined forces then made their way to the roof.
There was a slight hold up.
(I was literally groaning at my screen at this point)
The combined task force makes it to the roof and starts taking out the pests...one by one.
A few casualties later, the task force makes it to the north side of the roof. I toss a grenade down, since Nirur Torir is unable to get a line of fire (somehow).
More shots from the dark, more exploding barrels, more death.
Why hello thar.
That lobster man from before? Lived the grenade and killed the fella nearby. I had the rest of the task forces clear away the walls and shoot it down.
With so many casualties I couldn't see myself finishing the mission, so I began to pick up equipment and prepare to evacuate.
I decide to take a lobster man corpse for the research.
"Nope". The dead lobster man pops out of Coral's inventory, killing her, and then reaction fires Arrrptus. I don't even know.
I load the tank and just get out of there.
Moral = Broken.
