"Allow Plant/Animal" and "Allow Non-Plant/Animal"
« on: August 11, 2012, 10:19:45 pm »

Does anybody know what do these Additional options in the stockpile settings do? ("Allow Plant/Animal" and "Allow Non-Plant/Animal")  I'm writing a DFwiki article about stockpile settings and need to know. Right now my only experience is that once you modify these additional options in any way, the stockpile won't accept anything. Is there any ‼science‼ on that topic?

AFAIK, those options control whether the stockpile accepts items that have been made/consist of organic/inorganic substances. This may be useful only when you wish to trade stuff with the elves, who always bitch about murdering their precious trees to produce, say, steel. If this is indeed the case, the options are only very marginally useful.  ???

That is what I think it is supposed to do, but it seems broken.

Those options have been around since 2D, when elves refused to take animal products as well as wood products, and have been outdated for a while as a filter for elf-safe trade goods.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.
