You killed it, now go pick it up!
« on: August 14, 2012, 01:39:18 pm »

So, it seems that, a few moments ago, my shoddily put together military (A.K.A. one farmer that I recruited) managed to beat down a Giant Chinchilla that my hunter crippled before he ran out of ammo.
I'm so proud of my brand new commander, I'll need to forge her a weapon when I get the chance.

But now the dwarves won't go pick up the corpse.
I've got a refuse stockpile, and I ordered that to dump the stupid thing in the garbage zone, but it's sitting there, getting snowed on.
Any help?

I think you need a corpse stockpile.

What are your standing orders for collecting refuse from outside the fort?  By default they should be set to ignore, so if you haven't changed that then your dwarves will probably ignore it until it's rotted away to nothingness.

Well, apparently, that was the problem...
But, sadly, the corpse did indeed rot.
Oh well, my hunter got a Giant Chinchilla before.

I'm still proud of the military commander though. Next wave of migrants come, she gets a new squad.
