Burial not happening
« on: August 13, 2012, 10:05:23 pm »

So, I've now got a whole bunch of dead migrants lying around which I want to put in a coffin to prevent the wrath of the undead. I have plenty of coffins, all with burial enabled, I have a direct path to where they are lying dead, and disabling all but burial, they will sit there saying "no job"

Under the job list (j), there is no job queued saying "place item in tomb" or whatever the job task is normally called. To them, there is no evidence that the bodies are yet to be entombed, other than the dead bodies...

How do I rectify ths problem? Because I really don't fancy having ghosts haunt the place... I only recently put own about 10 of them

Your dwarves need to discover the bodies first, try that.

3 of them are "missing", but the others have been confirmed dead (by the ones who were waiting to die).

Since the ones who reported the deaths are now dead, does this mean that my living dwarves need to discover the bodies first?

Also, do I get any undead with atom smashing the migrants?

You will probably get ghosts, unless you slab them.

Atom smashing can produce ghost. I once wondered why i don't have a body of one ghost dwarf, made a memorial for him, and it read that he was crushed under a drawbridge.

I didn't even noticed it, but mystery was solved.

Damn... I'm better off with a body as my stone supply is limited to the remains of the caravan which died along with the original fortress (reclaim)...

Oh well, I'll find a way to get them into the coffins eventually I hope

Are those bodies forbidden?

Nope... just dead...

Well, actually they're now all partial skeletons... but not forbidden

Use wooden caskets as stopgap coffins.

Make sure the corpses aren't forbidden?
