First up, it appears there is only a one-way relationship between grandparents and grandkids... This is what I'm unsure about. Grandparents are listed in relationships, but grandchildren are not. Does this mean that one will get an unhappy thought if his grandmother dies, yet if the grandmother wouldn't care less if her grandchild died? I'm actually interested in mapping out this family tree, and I have a feeling that with all these couples in the fortress, there's going to be a lot more children popping out soon (3 since the last migrant wave)
So since almost my entire fortress seems to be related in some way or other, I decided to try and do a little "family history" and try and find whoever it was that raised this immense family of dwarves with the same skillsets (5 migrant waves, all with military as highest attribute)
So, I go to one of the newest dwarves, in the migrant wave arriving at the moment... His grandmother and grandfather is in the fortress. Go to grandmother, turns out her parents are in the fortress too. Her mother turns out to be the one that just gave birth to a new baby girl, at 92 years old...
So, technically this baby is the original dwarf's great auntie, despite the fact that she is many years younger... This just proves dwarves stay fertile many years after most humans have become senile
As to what these two of my oldest dwarves have been up to...
They have 9 children between them
he is 99 years old, and is one of 14 children, of which none are in the fortress with him.
He has 24 nieces, of which 10 are in the fortress
He has 23 nephews, or which 14 are in the fortress
She is 92 years old , and one of 10 children. She has one sibling in the fortress, which I will follow up
She has only 10 nieces, of which 4 are in the fortress
And she has 8 Nephews, of which 3 are in the fortress
Her older brother ties for the oldest with her spouse, at 99 years old.
This guy has 5 children, and is married, although only 3 of his children are with him, and his wife is not
The rest of his relations are the same as his sister
