How to cure infection in adventure mode?
« on: July 17, 2012, 05:59:44 am »

Do i need to see a doctor? It happened to my First Toe, Right Foot a little bit after i smashed it trying to get to the bottom of a temple.
Ive walked through plenty of rivers, is there anything, like seeing a doctor, i need to do? Will it go away over time? Am i going to die?

Infection can't be cured in either mode, but in Adventurer Mode, you can't even prevent it (except by not fighting), because doctors do nothing.
If you're very disease-resistant, it's possible that it'll go away over time. If not, you're probably going to die in a few months.

You can always try to get that infected appendage cut off somehow. That would be the only cure I can think of

I hope that when towns are fleshed out that each profession has an adventure mode function.

Imagine this.

Code: [Select]
You talk to the Doctor.

Axedwarf: Hello, My name is Urist McInjuredAdventurer.
Doctor: Hello Urist. My name is Melbil McHumanDoctor.
-> Help me with an illness!
Doctor: Allow me to check your wounds.
[-Doctor checks wounds, analyses how much can be healed/dressed/cleaned.-]
Doctor: I will help you, Urist, but first, what will you offer me for my services?
[-open trade screen-]
[-successful trade-]
Doctor: Hold still.
The doctor washes water over Your first toe, left foot, cleaning the wound!
The doctor scrubs Your first toe, left foot with his =dog fat soap=, cleaning the wound!
The doctor dresses Your first toe, left foot with his rope reed fibre cloth, dressing the wound!

Doctor: There we are, Urist. Your first toe, left foot should be fine if you go easy on it. Is there anything else you need?
[-go back to standard dialogue screen-]

How awesome would that be?

And Lich, that would get rid of the infection in the appendage, but the cut wound would possibly become infected.

if you become a werebeaqst you can regrow limbs and cure infectons. you can't fast travel when transformed, though, or you'll lose all your items

Burning the appendage might cure it, but that might be obsolete in this version.  Yeah, you're gonna have to go werebeast.

It's rather sad that to get medical treatment, one must pay a visit to a night creature instead of visiting a physician.

Okay, so, i must have genned the world with no bogeymen, because three nights of wandering a jungle and nothing. I was hoping that sasquatch could kill me but i killed him in about three stabs, i was hoping the mooses coulda killed me, but they didnt seem to notice me cutting off each of their horns. I ultimately starved to death fighting a giant snail in the middle of a frozen ocean.

you need to sleep to get bogeymen, just walking around isn't enough

side note: the infected cut will kill you after weeks, if not months. I usually get bored with an adventurer long before that. You can retire and actually be cured if you ever migrate to a fort you are playing in the same world (then 'reclaim' the adventurer).
