Lol, are we seriously trying to have a flame war over what assigning labors is like? Its like assigning labors. Tedious. Annoying. I just deal with it, and give labors when the dwarf is still a migrant, then never change them without a really good reason, eg ALL MY MINERS ARE DEAD. IMO, if you just assign the labors to the dwarf when he arrives, you save all the trouble DT would save you. Its just a matter of preference really.

Just checked out splintermind for the first time. Didn't know about until I saw this thread. While I don't like the smiley faces replacing the colored happiness indicator, I LOVE the animals tab, this is outstanding. Not that helpful unless you have a ton of animals, but my current fort has about 200 animals, including about 20 black bears and about 15 grizzly bears mwahahahaha

I still don't really see a need to individually assign labors to 200 dwarves at once.

Either you only have a few dwarves, in which case the ingame UI is fine.

Or you have way too many, in which case I don't care who does what as long as the job gets done, in which case DT is too much hassle, compared to autolabor.

In addition to being used to assign labors, Dwarf Therapist is also good for identifying dwarves and sorting them. If you see a dwarf's name, and can't find them in the units menu, you can sort in Dwarf Therapist by alphabet, and determine their profession, and go look at units again. Also, the migration wave sort approximates many of the other lists in the game, such as the lists in the military menus. Finally, the sort by squad is useful to see who's in the military, and who is in the same squad.
