Question about guard animals.
« on: July 07, 2012, 01:46:00 am »

I have a 3 tiles wide entrance to my fort.

Will my dogs detect thieves/snatchers if I pasture them in a 3x3 zone above the entrance with glass floor?

They might be able to. If animals even make "observer" rolls, that is. Even if they could I doubt they'd catch anything trying to get in, so might as well just put them up top and have a guaranteed defense system.

You might as well just block the hallway with a dog; center a 1x1 pasture and assign a single dog there. Should get the job done.

a glass floor is not see through, so no, pasturing them above the entrance that way won't help.

I wanted to keep them safe, while still being able to detect thieves and snatchers.

Will try something with grates.
