Storing Bones/Skulls in Bins
« on: July 06, 2012, 09:21:15 am »

I set up a refuse stockpile accepting only Bones/Skulls. Then I increased the maximum allowed number of Bins for this stockpile to be greater than 0. While bones/skulls are stored in the stockpile individually and bins are transported to the stockpile, the dwarves do not add new bones/skulls to the bins or sort the already piled up Bones/skulls into the bins.

Anything I am doing wrong here? Is this a known bug?

That kind of stockpile doesn't normally take bins, because those items don't go in bins.

So a barrel/pot would do?

No.  Not every item type can be stored in a container.

dwarfs refuse to store refuse in bins or barrels because it's refuse

They use the medieval method of 'toss it on the floor and wait for it to rot away' method of garbage processing (or atom smashing)

the best you can do right now is make a quantum stockpile of bones using mine-carts, that way you can store all the bones you need in a single tile
