How do they work

it say's I've spent 0.12% (0.0012 parts per hundred) in the board that it has the most % wise.
and even assuming that it's 12% the numbers add up to like 50%

I think it's what percentage your posts are of the board, not what percentage your posts in that board are of your posts total.

I... Have a hard time thinking that is right. There are soooo many posts. It seems unbelievable that, for instance, 1/70ish posts in FG&RP are mine.

You're also one of the most active users on B12. I think that having 0.60% of the total posts in GD is fairly accurate for me; there are (as of writing) 506779 posts in GD and I am responsible for 3065 of them. 0.006 * 506779 = 3040.674, so it looks right.

To address the original question directly: The percentages in the right column are your activity compared to that board's total. The left column percentages are your board activities compared to your total. 17.8% of your posts have been in DF Dwarf Mode Discussion; your activity makes up .12% of the Mafia board's total activity.
The fun can now resume.
