Story of a dwarf and an elf
« on: July 03, 2012, 03:17:47 pm »

In a human town where from time to time an adventurer or storyteller comes by is an elven poet drinking a lot of beer in the tavern. But than a dwarven bard who just arrived in town enters the tavern. Seeing as they are a poet and a bard they naturally only speak in verse. Thus begins the elf:

Elf:
What must my eyes endure?
What is this odor of manure?
Such an ugly person of short stature,
Is very detrimental to my drunken rapture.

Dwarf:
From afar mountains i travel'd 'ere,
Thought this tav'rn looks like beer.
But tis' not a welcome i hold deer,
In sight of this elf i can nay not cheer.

Elf:
And even if the gods had made me mute,
I could not welcome such a brute,
As is a dwarf, that with his stench acute,
would better fit in a garbage chute.

Dwarf:
On elvish tongues words do swell,
your speech 'arvest nothing that is well.
Of your kind many before me fell,
And have by my axe since gone to hell.

More stanza if/when inspiration strikes.

Any feedback is very welcome. Being no native speaker to her i still feel a little insecure doing poetry in the english language, so any hints to problems that may stem from that are also encouraged. (especially how good the rhymes sound to native speaker. I'm afraid my pronunciation is far from perfect)

Please be gracious in judging my english. (I am not a native speaker/writer.)

Don't feel the need to follow a strict rhyme scheme, and maybe employ more metaphor?
