Screen Recording Software?

I'm looking for a screen recording software, preferably free, to record Dwarf Fortress and other lesser games with. I've tried FRAPS and have been completely dissatisfied with it. I don't need microphone recording as I am not planning on any live commentary.

Well I was gonna say fraps but... With dwarf fortress there is a recorder built right in just go to movies or something like that when you are playing. I have no idea if it works well. I'll google some recorders.
