I never thought I'd say this, but Nietzsche is just adorable.

The Andy Griffith Show was pretty good too. Barney is best incompetent cop.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

RIP.

I used to watch Matlock when I was a kid and probably have seen every episode... Maybe it is time to re-watch.

I grew up on the Andy Griffith show (in reruns, but still...)
It's was kind of mandatory viewing for children growing up in North Carolina in the 1980's, along with Hee Haw.

Damn, first Doc Watson, now Andy. D: D: D:
Pretty soon our only notable celebrities will be "American Idol" singers.

EDIT: Oh, and Earl Scruggs, too. I'm gonna pull a reverse Robertson and say this is God's punishment to North Carolina for the gay marriage amendament.

Ron Howard, obviously. It's always the children you have to be wary of.

Some fun facts:
After graduating from UNC, he taught high school English for a couple of years, including none other than NPR's Carl Kasell.

His first role was an incredibly dark one, as the ambitious, amoral Larry Rhodes in Elia Kazan's A Face in the Crowd. If you haven't seen it, it's well worth a watch. 55 years later, its message about fame, popularity and politics are probably even more relevant.
