Help! Problems modding humans to be playable

I successfully made humans playable in fort mode by adding the [CIV_CONTROLLABLE] tag to them however this has caused me the unintended consequence of making dwaves not playable - the only civs i can pick now are humans.

I checked legends mode and the worlds im making are full of dwarves and dwarven civs, I just can't play as them. Is there a way around this or am I just totally boned? How can I have humans AND dwarves both be playable?

You can play as them. You have to select the dwarven civilization. Press tab a few times until you get a list of civilization names, then use + and - to select them. The ones with # are humans, the ones with omega signs are dwarves.

I did, every last civ is human - i have someone eliminated the dwarves from play.

Gen a world with only 5 years of history and look again. It is not uncommon for a civ to be wiped clean off the world

Good call, I generated a 5 year world. The result was about 19 human civs and 1 dwarf civ. For some reason all of the dwarf civs seem to being wiped out by the humans now.

The thought occurs - perhaps these dwarfless worlds would of normally been rejected by world gen but now that humans are also civ playable the game is honkydory with dwarf genocide. Is this the plausible cause?

After a little tinkering I have overcome the issue i was having with there being no dwarves -

Now that humans are playable I would like to discourage them from digging, but not make it impossible. It there a way to make certain skills more difficult for certain races?

Nope. But humans are weaker then dwarves naturally, thus they dig slower.

Goblins are even weaker, so they dig like a grandma.


Kobolds simply should not dig...

[SKILL_RATE:MINING:25:8:16:16] should learn mining 75% slower then anyone else

Also there was a CAVE_ADAPT counter that someone used to cause negitive effects from being in caves too long.
