Trying to get a great embark, got some seeds?
« on: June 18, 2012, 01:29:17 pm »

So I have this thing for volcanoes, but I'd also like a river and a forest (or at least a decent portion of forest) and a warm climate - and aquifers are the devil's work. High amounts of minerals is also preferable. Neutral and low savagery are nice too.

Anyone have a seed with such an embark?

Sounds like you want Garden Eden. Just take the fun and use 'Garden Eden' as seeds for everything. Maybe toady implemented some undiscovered easter eggs.

If you embark on a volcano, you'll only get copper and such.
better to embark in sedementary, also, you can remove aquifer tags from stone to remove aquifers and also, perfectworlddf

It's a bit low on trees, but otherwise everything you asked for in a 5x5 embark:

and, for those of you not using graphics:

  • Surface Volcano
  • Clay
  • Tetrahedrite, Iron ore, Gold, Galena all visible from surface
  • Flux stone in two biomes
  • All four biomes calm and warm weather
  • At the source of a brook flowing south
  • No aquifers

If 5x5 is too big for your FPS concerns, you can shrink it to 3x3 and still overlap the volcano, brook (not its source though), and some grassland with trees.

Try this. It's not a fixed seed gen, but it will create worlds with lot's of volcano's. Use the site-finder to find one with your specific preferences.

So forgive me if this seems to be a very stupid question, but I've never generated from a seed before so bear with me here. I used the main seed alone, and did not come up with a world like the one pictured above - do I have to enter each individual parameter? I don't ebelive I mae a typo in entering the seed.

So, would the 3x3 have the flux stone as well or would one need to use an odd 3x4 etc. embark size?

Anyone else wondering how to load a pre-made world, have a look at this page of the wiki: http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2012:Importing_and_exporting_worlds#Import
