Would it be possible to release some sort of documentation for the files in the data and raw folders?

Toady told : not yet. The format are not stable enough, as it is only a alpha version of the game.

Later maybe. (tell me anybody if I am wrong...)

I can help you if you have some questions, but full documentation is a lot of work for an unstable format.
