Hitchhiker's Guide to the Necromancy

Overwhelmed by corpses, didn't you?
It happens to the best of us.
I have now found a way to efficiently raid the necromancers' tower with low amount of risks.

First you might want to be a legendary stalker ambusher.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And then you'll want to be a legendary thrower

Quote
Get load of rocks and throw them around, most preferably to your own tile for time efficiency. Do this until you become legendary.

Now you'll want to raid the tower, also remember that having followers won't help anything at all and soon they'll become undead as well.
You will want to sneak before approaching the tower, when the reach the place you might want to stay away at least one tile from the enemies just to be safe. Just keep throwing rocks at the necromancers until their brain cracks.
If you can't reach more necromancers and there are lots of animated corpses, then you should reveal yourself and lure them away from the tower as much as possible, then run away from them and sneak again, come back to the tower, rinse, repeat until all undead and necromancers are cleared out of the tower and then you can read slabs without any deterrence.

Oh right! You need to be a novice reader, too.

I would say companions are great for dealing with the first floor. You rush to the tower (keeping distance from you and your companions), sneak, open the door, reveal yourself, and lead the zombies out. Continue sneaking. The zombies will now attack your live bait, leaving the necromancers by themselves in the tower. Or better yet, the necromancers have followed the zombies. First floor cleared.

Get a bunch of archers then make a campfire bunker for them(covering all 8 spaces around them). this way you can have the zombies can be killed off with out having your men horribly. next you want to do the leveling up ambush so that you don't take a speed debuff each time you sneak to prevent getting killed once a necromancer finds you. next you want to aggro the necromancers out of the fort and then lose them quickly. if you separated them from the pack of zombies you can easily pick them off.

My favorite method for a quick necromancer character is:

Start as grand master ambusher, and novice reader. Quickly get ambusher to legendary. You can easily get through two or three floors (in my experience) and grab a book/slab. The only things that may stop you are zombie(s) on top of stairs. However, as a legendary ambusher, you can safely kill them without being detected, then move on. If it's a book, just carry it around until you're ready to use it. If it's a slab, fast travel and drop it in a location you'll remember, and return to it when you need it.

Can books of life and death be used as a one-time safety net? For example, you're about to bleed to death, but then become a necromancer, thus voiding your previously life-threatening problem.

It's a big waste of skills to give your character skills on ambushing when you can hold down two buttons on sneak inside a building and become a legendary ambusher in less than 3 minutes.

For some reasons I always get spotted by elven zombies, and then I simply had no chance to escape the tower, especially if floor 1 is still occupied.

Elves, they spend so much time staring at trees they can see the slightest movement.

Won't it be great if you can train observer by looking at things.
