Broker Miner can'ts put away his pickaxe
« on: June 08, 2012, 06:20:27 pm »

So a human caravan came to my fort and I turned off the mining labor on my broker. Then suddenly I'm spammed my message saying that he can't put item in bin, because he can't access it. When I zoomed to him he is stuck in his bedroom and won't come out, the door is proved to path-able.

All my attempts to fix it, by building more bins, setting a cave crocodile on him (which the bastard escaped and then stood at the bedroom hallway and spamming me again) and making a weapon stockpile in the bedroom didn't work.

What do?

Forbid the pick in his inventory. That should make him drop it.

Do you have burrows in effect? It sounds a lot like he's trying to store the pick somewhere he isnt allowed to go.

Burrows hmm?

Well it is nice to know that my Depot burrow is causing all this shenanigans.

Thanks!

(The human caravan tried to leave before I could trade, so I trapped them in and killed them all. All-dead caravan don't notify their civilization, right?)

Well, of course they will not be able to contact their civilization. But they do not have to either: the civs keep track of what the caravan is carrying and where it is going. If suddenly parts or everything of their trade goods has gone missing (either by killing the traders or seizing the goods), they'll know and blame you for it. It doesnt matter if it was you or a gob siege that killed the caravan/diplomat. As long as they die on your doorstep, it is your fault.

Well dang. Here comes another problem.

I guess I'll start deforesting enough trees and then close my fort in forever before magma-flooding the humans.

Oh, it's not that instant. You can get away with it a few more times before shit hits the fan.

Oh. Ok then.
I guess I'll use my legendary gem cutter and craftdwarf to make some offerings for them then.
