Ironic Appreciation of Turkish Star Wars Club
« on: July 06, 2012, 08:41:11 pm »

For those who don't know, "Dünyayı Kurtaram Adam", AKA "The Man Who Saved the World", AKA "Turkish Star Wars", is a 1982 Turkish adventure movie. It is also consistently considered one of the worst movies of all time, not just because it steals large amounts of music and footage from various sources, mainly Star Wars: A New Hope, but also because its story and dialogue (even when translated) makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

But I am founding this forum-based club of people who think this film is so bad it's good, like me. Call me an ironic hipster, but what the hell.

Discuss.

(Here you can watch it, badly subtitled into English, online.)

Four minutes in, opening credits comprising at least a minute of that, and I have no idea what's going on (in a good way). It's like they just strung Star Wars clips together and let a different person narrate each segment.

I watched a little of the beginning and skipped ahead to 34 minutes... What.

I'd say it's so horrendously bad that it's good, at least from a comical standpoint.

Ahh yes, I remember this gem.  Don't think I ever watched it all the way through, but I did certainly enjoy the opening segments and how horrendously bad it all was.  It's rare to come across something as good as mixing the Indiana Jones theme with repeated/mirrored star wars clips and a completely idiotic storyline.

For a quick laugh though, I generally just hop for Turkish Rambo, or even Turkish Matrix.

It's all brilliantly bad stuff.

Turkish Matrix.

Is that movie about how Saddam Hussein came to power?

Wouldn't it be about how Ghandi came to power. Considering it is an Indian movie?

Just sayin' the guy looks like Saddam, not Ghandi.
