Im confused

I keep looking at dwarf fortress and finding creatures with a bodypart called "eye-tooth".
What is a eye tooth and is it used for eating or seeing things?

The eye-tooth is a canine, but it's not a dog. Does that help?

I was getting concerned. It'd been 6 weeks since a new one of these was posted.

While you're at it, look up sweetbreads ;)
