Saved custom armor sets
« on: June 01, 2012, 11:21:21 am »

Every time I start a new fort, I have to re-customize the armour sets I use for my archers, fast military and heavy dudes.  It would be extremely helpful to be able to save those sets externally, so that they're available in between sessions and not just have the default sets included with the game.

I agree with you.

In the mean time though, macros can help out.

The best suggestion on that subject I've seen is having them be something you can save & load across saves, just like embark profiles.  An idea I very much support.

I believe there are other threads out there somewhere and all of them come to roughly the same conclusion.

You could have berries on the rocks and the dwarves would say it was "berry gneiss."
You should die horribly for this. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.

And, just for the record, here are all the past threads dealing with this issue that I can find, though I probably missed some:

Total Interface Overhaul
A suggestion snuck into a FotF thread

Other related ideas:
Civilian uniforms
Custom non-military uniforms

I could swear this idea has come up several other times, too, but maybe it was in other discussion threads, rather than on the suggestions forum.  It's a good idea, though.  I should also note that the devlog says that Toady "added ability to set up generic armor options in uniforms (like the ones the defaults have)" to the not-yet-released version.
